Botox Aftercare Guide: Things to Consider After the Procedure | MediHeart Medical Center
Botox is a brief and safe medical aesthetic procedure frequently preferred for reducing wrinkles and relaxing facial features. However, the rules to be followed within the first 24 hours after the procedure are crucial for the longevity of the results and the prevention of potential side effects. As MediHeart Medical Center Medical Aesthetics Department, we have summarized the key points you should pay attention to during this process.
Things to Do in the First 24 Hours After Procedure
- The application area may be touched gently, but it should not be rubbed or massaged
- Maintain an upright position for a few hours following the application; do not lie down immediately
- If your physician recommended facial exercises, they can be performed
- Take care to keep the skin clean
Situations to Avoid
- Intense sports and heavy physical activity
- Sauna, steam room, solarium, and prolonged sunbathing
- Alcohol consumption
- Sleeping in a prone (face-down) position
- Makeup application (for the first few hours)
Expected Normal Effects
It is normal to observe mild redness, small needle marks, or sensitivity in the area following the procedure, and these usually resolve spontaneously within a few hours to a few days. The full effect of Botox typically becomes noticeable within 3 to 7 days.
When Should You Consult a Doctor?
If you notice severe swelling, drooping of the eyelid (ptosis), difficulty breathing, or an unexpected asymmetrical appearance, you must consult the physician who performed the application.
